About Directorate of Technical Education, Assam
Technical Education in Assam started with the establishment of Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering & Technology at Jorhat before independence in 1927. Establishment of Assam Engineering Institute and later establishment of Assam Engineering College was the beginning of Technical Education in the State of Assam. It has been a long journey of the evolution of State technical Education in the State of Assam. Directorate of Technical Education, Assam was established at 1960. Now there are four Govt. Engineering Colleges and 10 Polytechnic Institutions under this Directorate. In the Technical Education front, there has been phenomenal growth in the recent past. The first Engineering College – Assam Engineering College was established in 1956 at Guwahati and the first Diploma Institution- Assam Textile Institution was established in at Guwahati.

Assam PAT Qualification And Eligibility Criteria
Qualification
- The candidates must have cleared class 10th or equivalent examination from a recognized board or, class 12th examination the Board of Secondary Education Assam.
- The candidates belonging to the general category must hold 40% marks in mathematics and science taken as average. For the SC candidates it is 35% and for ST it is 33% marks in average in science and mathematics.
- For the candidates belonging to the general category the candidates must be born on or after 1st Aug 1997 and for the SC/ST, the candidates must be born or after 1st Aug 1994.
- For institutions outside Assam (seat allotted by Govt. of India), the upper age limit is 21 years as on 1st Aug 2017.
Application Fee
- For General and OBC category candidates: Rs.500/-
- For SC/ST category candidates: Rs.250/-
Age Limit
Aspirants who are born on or after 01st August 1998, The Upper age limit of candidates should be 21 year as soon 1st August 2017.
