About National Seeds Corporation (NSC):
National Seeds Corporation (NSC) is a Schedule ‘B’-Miniratna Category-I company wholly owned by Government of India under the administrative control of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. NSC was established in March-1963 to undertake production of foundation and certified seeds. At present, it is undertaking production of certified seeds of nearly 600 varieties of 60 crops through its registered seed growers. There are about 8000 registered seed growers all over the country who are undertaking the seed production programs in different agro-climatic conditions. The turnover of the Corporation for the F.Y. 2015-16 was ` 805.50 crores. There are 10 Regional Offices, 5 Farms and 73 Area Offices/Sub-Units of the Corporation spread all over the country. In the seed production, the emphasis is given for production of oil seeds, pulses, and hybrids including vegetables. NSC has established strict Quality Control procedure to ensure supply of quality seed to farmers. NSC has established 5 Quality Control Laboratories, one each at New Delhi, Secunderabad, Bhopal, Kolkata and Pune to undertake seed testing to check the quality of seeds. Besides, production and distribution of quality seeds, NSC is also involved in the production of Tissue Culture Plants like Banana. It also undertakes supply of seedlings/saplings of fruits crops through procurement from the MOU Partners. Seed marketing is carried out through three channels namely sale through dealers/distributors, Govt. (State/Central) and through NSC owned Sale counter. There are about 2500 dealers of the Corporation who account for more than 69% of the sale turnover.
NSC is involved in production and marketing of quality seeds, planting materials and sale of Bio-Fertilizer through its 10 Regional Offices, 5 Farms and 77 Area offices spread all over India.
The advent of NSC was a logical result of the revolution that was taking place in plant breeding and genetics. At the time when the nation was facing acute shortage of food grains, NSC became a harbinger of Green Revolution. As a result, India became a food grain surplus country from one depending on wheat grain shipments from USA under PL – 480 schemes. Starting with the production of 30-40 tons of Maize Foundation Seed, NSC today produces more than 1.5 lakh tons of certified/quality seeds per year covering 600 varieties of 60 crops and Hybrids of cereals, millets, pulses, oilseeds, fodder fiber and vegetable.

Interested candidates can apply for NSCL Recruitment 2017 for the following positions as per their Qualification:
Consultant: Doctorate degree in Agronomy/Agriculture Extension/Plant Breeding including Agril.
Botany with minimum 15 years of field experience in production/ improvement of oilseeds
crops including oil palm under ICAR, SAUs/Institute/DAC or retired officers of DAC with
Grade Pay of Rs. 8700/- or equivalent for Rs. 5 years or more.
Technical Assistants: Master degree in Agronomy/Agriculture Extension/Plant Breeding/ including Agril. Botany or any field of Agriculture or related fields.Proficiency in computer knowledge like MS-Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet etc.., Persons with experience of research, extension and crop development will be given preference.
Trainee – Tractor Driver: Secondary School Certificate plus valid Driving Licence for driving tractor with the trolley. Preference will be given to persons having experience in driving Combine, JCB, Bulldozer, Tractor with Trolley / Agricultural Implements / Land Leveller. (Age limit will be relaxable in
case of persons having 10 years or more experience in related discipline at Farms/ Offices as
DPW/DWW).
General Manager(Production): At least second class post graduate degree in botany or agriculture with specialization in Plant Breeding Genetics, Agronomy or Horticulture. Experience 15 years in supervisory capacity in Agricultural Field out of which at least 10 years supervisory experience should be in the work relating to the production of quality seeds.
