About HPBOSE:
Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education is an agency of Government of Himachal Pradesh entrusted with the responsibilities of prescribing courses of instructions and text books and conducting examinations for secondary school students in Himachal Pradesh. It was set up in 1969 and has its headquarters in Dharamshala. Kultar chand Rana from Kangra was the first chairman. At present more than 8000 schools are affiliated with the Board. The Board sets up 1650 examination centers for over 500,000 examinees every year.
The Education Board prescribes syllabus, courses of instructions and text books for school education in Himachal Pradesh besides conducting examinations based on courses listed. At present, the Board conducts examination for the following classes and courses: 10th, 10+2, J.B.T and T.T.C. As many as 5 Lakh candidates annually appear in the examination conducted by the Board. Presently more than 8000 schools are affiliated with the Board. The Board has set up 1650 Examination centers throughout the state. Board also publishes textbooks for class 1st to 12th. Apart from a Liaison Office at Shimla, the Board has also established 19 Sale Book Depots/Information Centres in the state to cater to the needs of students.

Age Limitations:
- Candidate age must be greater than 21 years and should be below than 40 years to be eligible for the Himachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test.

| Hindi Language Teacher | Aspirants must have completed B.A (Hindi) or Diploma (Elementary Education) to be eligible. |
| Punjabi Language Teacher | Candidates must hold BA in Punjabi/Diploma in Elementary Education. |
| TGT/Arts | Aspirants must possess the degree of BA or B.Com or B.Ed with a recognized university. |
| Shastri | Candidates should be qualified the Shastri with at least 50% marks from an authorized university. |
- For TGT (Arts): BA/B.Com with at least 50% marks with 1 year B.Ed or 10+2 with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor in B.EI.Ed.
- For TGT (Non-Medical): B.Sc (NM) with 50% marks and B.Ed or 10+2 and 4 years bachelor in B.EI.Ed/ Special education.
- For TGT Medical: B.Sc (Medical) with 50% marks and 1 years B.Ed/ B.EI.Ed or 10+2 and 4 years B.EI.Ed/ B.Ed in special education.
- For Shastri: Shastri with at least 50% marks.
Language Teacher: BA with Hindi as an elective subject and 2 years diploma in B.EI.Ed/B.Ed. - For JBT: 10+2 with 50% marks and two years JBT certificate course.
