Inspector General of Prisons, shortened to IG of Prisons or IG Prisons, is the highest rank in the provincial prison service, usually the provincial commanding and controlling officer and chief/head of all district, central, special and women jails/prisons, borstal institutions and remand homes in a province in India.
The Government of Goa adopted the Prison Manual framed by the said committee and based on this Manual, The Goa Prison Rules,2006 were framed, and now, the Prisons in Goa is governed by these Rules.
