The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) was constituted in the year 1962 by the Government of West Bengal, in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 162 of the Constitution of India pursuant to No. 828-Edn(T), dated 02.03.1962 for the purpose of conducting Joint Entrance Examination for admission to various institutions in West Bengal imparting education in medical, engineering and technological courses. The endeavor of the Board has always been directed towards enhancement of transparency in conducting Common Entrance Examinations for various professional Undergraduate and Postgraduate level courses in the State through effective state-of-the-art technology.(T), dated 02.03.1962 for the purpose of conducting Joint Entrance Examination for admission to various institutions in West Bengal imparting education in medical, engineering and technological courses. The endeavor of the Board has always been directed towards enhancement of transparency in conducting Common Entrance Examinations for various professional Undergraduate and Postgraduate level courses in the State through effective state-of-the-art technology.
The Board has been awarded the status of Statutory Body enacted vide ‘West Bengal Act XIV of 2014’ named as ‘The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board Act, 2014’. The Board is empowered to conduct common, combined, competitive, entrance examinations for admission to the undergraduate professional and vocational courses in any College or in any University in the State of West Bengal.vide ‘West Bengal Act XIV of 2014’ named as ‘The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board Act, 2014’. WBJEE Qualification And Eligibility Criteria:
Qualification:
- Applicant must be a citizen of India
- Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 level) or its equivalent examination with an aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST/PwD)
- Candidates who are appearing in their class XII Standard examination in 2017 may appear in the WBJEE 2017 but shall not be made eligible for seat allotment for admission if such candidates do not pass the Qualifying
- Examination with the required eligibility criteria as mentioned above.
Age Limit:
- For B.Tech Programme in Marine Engineering, the candidates must be minimum 17 years of age as on
- December 31, 2017, while the maximum age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2017.
- Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying exam, class XII in 2017 are also eligible to apply for WBJEE 2017.
- Upper age limit: 25 years till 31/12/2017.
